As a result, there is a great deal known about the regulation of contraction in fatty acid importers the mammalian heart and a wide variety of biochemical, biophysical and cellular techniques available to study it. There is significant potential, therefore, in applying what has been learned from studying human heart models, to the hearts of other vertebrates in order to ask questions based on adaptation and acclimation.
