I work out 4-5 times a week for about 1.5 to 2 hours a weeks clinic time. weeks clinic My problem is a) I'm not sure how many calories to eat each day in order to lose weight. I think I should be eating around weeks clinic 2100 because I'm fairly active. And b)I don't get enough protein. I'm a vegetarian and have a hard time fitting in as much as I need. I think I should get around 100g of protein a day but I average around 60g. What are some quick, easy things I can eat to get what I need? A: Barb Troy - Congratulations!!! Not only have you lost weight, but it sounds like you are maintaining that weight loss. Excellent. Exercise is key here. Not knowing your age, height or current weight, 2,100 kcals for a woman regularly exercising (per you description) is reasonable. |

Is there something better I can eat/drink before or after my workout to help burn fat and/or calories? A: Barb Troy - This is kind of a hard question for me to answer with the information pregnancy you supplied. What would help me to know is your typical 24 hour intake, usual total Calorie pregnancy intake, & usual total Calorie expenditure. After a workout both carbs and some pregnancy protein help facilitate recovery, especially of glycogen stores. The milk is giving you the carb and protein both, in addition to whey protein. As you can probably tell, I do not have a scenario of food intake (given what I know about you) that will enhance fat burning after workouts. Sorry. The best way to burn total Calories is to exercise at the highest intensity possible for the amount of time you have to exercise. Also, your body can adapt to burning more free fatty acids for fuel during exercise if you train for longer workouts (at least 90 minutes) at a more moderate intensity. |
